Flow Community Drumming CIC

We are a not-for-profit bringing people together through drumming. Our sessions offer a chance to connect, have fun, get creative and take a break from the pressures of everyday life. Whether through the energy of playing together or the more relaxed experience of an intuitive drum circle, we make space for people of all ages and abilities to join in, find their rhythm and enjoy the benefits of making music together.

Our work

Drum Ensembles

High-energy, and sometimes loud! We combine the grooves of rock and pop with the drive and precision of marching band drumming, playing with sticks on drums worn on slings. There’s room to explore rhythms, develop skills and enjoy the energy of making music together, whatever your level of experience.

Intuitive Drum Circles

A more informal, relaxed and expressive approach using frame drums and percussion. We explore rhythm together through listening, responding and improvising, creating space to unwind, get creative and connect with others. No pressure to perform, no right or wrong way to join in

Drumming in the Community

We work with community groups and organisations, adapting sessions to suit different groups and settings. From community workshops to workplace away-days, conferences and team-building events, drumming offers a simple, engaging way to bring people together. As a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, income from our work helps sustain and develop our community sessions.

Our impact

Different people. Different Rhythms. A shared experience.

From community groups and older people to schools, charities and workplaces, we bring people together through the simple pleasure of making music. Here’s what some of the people we’ve worked with have to say.

The Squad - Charity supporting adults with learning disabilities

“Grant made sure every member of the group was included and had a go at drumming whatever their ability. Grant tailored the evening to the group."

About us...

Grant behind drum kit in recording studio

Hi, I’m Grant. I’ve been drumming for over 40 years, from marching bands to rock music. When I began developing a community drumming project during lockdown, these felt like the most natural places to start. I love drumming for its simplicity, energy and honesty. It brings people together, gets us out of our heads and gives us something to share — no words or musical experience needed. We offer two ways to experience drumming. Our Drum Ensemble blends the energy of rock and pop with the rhythms and structure of marching bands, with opportunities to develop your skills at your own pace. Our Intuitive Drum Circles are more relaxed and exploratory, focusing on connection, creativity and wellbeing. Both are open to everyone, with no pressure to perform and the freedom to take part in your own way. I’ve been running community drumming sessions since early 2022, establishing a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2025. I’m a qualified teacher (PGCE) and work as a facilitator and support worker with a local charity supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism. I also hold an enhanced DBS check for working with both children and vulnerable adults. At the heart of it all is a simple idea: making space for people to connect, enjoy themselves and make music together.
